You've got to start somewhere

Holly had developed a cough and what sounded like rattle-y breathing over the weekend, so we finally got her into the doctor today to have her checked out. Her pediatrician was not concerned about her cough at all, stated that her lungs were clear and that we do not need to continue to prop her bed up at night (although the vaporizer is definitely a keeper). However, she told us that Holly does have (as Pat terms it) a really rather crappy ear infection in her left ear and is starting on one in her right. Other than that, Holly checked out a-okay!

Our child has not been complaining, whining, refusing to eat or tugging at her ears. She showed no indication of having the symptoms of an ear infection and quite frankly, she demonstrated the opposite! She was always her happy, cooing self despite moments of demanding immediate gratification and attention - pronto! I don't know what that means for future ear infections (I know I can say that I hope she doesn't have any, but that's like saying it's not going to rain EVER again), but we'll find out when we get there.

In other news - she weighed in at 17 pounds, 3 ounces today. She's a healthy sized baby, no doubt! She's due back at the pediatrician on March 16th for her 6 month appointment. She get another round of vaccinations and will also get a follow-up x-ray on her hips to ensure that the ultrasound that she had previously definitely confirmed nothing amiss.

Other than that, our little munckin is peachy! (Well, except for the spots that the peaches leave on her rear end ... for that, we just decided to skip feeding her peaches until a little while later.)

  1. Thanks, Kristin, so are we! I'm glad the appointment didn't turn out to be anything too serious, not that we shouldn't be at least mildly concerned about ear infections. Really, though, she's just fine and will be back to her completely healthy, normal self (although she may still have her cough) by the end of 10 days. Unless, of course, the cold is bacterial. Then that will be gone, too! :)

We've got to find a weekend that you can come out and visit us. We miss having you over!
